A masterpiece of filmmaking.

While the film is rated R (in the USA) or 18 here in Britain it doesn’t deserve this age rating. While violent it’s never particularly gory or bloody, it gets very violent at some parts but there’s never over the top blood. The film is absolutely amazing and deserves 5 stars from CSM. Violence: 4/5. Some shoot ‘em up scenes and fistfights. The ending has the famous 3 way shootout and the film contains several scenes of war violence (from the American civil war). Men are hanged- only to be saved by the man with no name- and there is a brutal near death due to dehydration. Language: 2/5. For an R/18 there’s nothing. Bastard and Bitch. Sex: 2/5. The one woman character who is briefly shown is a prostitute and there is a non sexualised rear shot of Tuco getting into a bath. Overall score: 5/5. An amazing film which is absolutely worth a watch. You get kids however, may get bored or not understand it. This film is iconic and groundbreaking with some amazing music and photography. My rating: 12+ for Moderate Violence and Brief Nudity.

Good for nearly everyone

In most countries this movie was given some type of 15+ rating which in my opinion is really out dated. There is gun violence but there is nothing explicit or bloody if this film was Re-rated it would be like PG-13 (US) , 12 (UK) , M (AUS) for Moderate violence, infrequent coarse language.

Classic Leone western has bloody western violence

This is an unbelievable film. The cinematography, the acting, the action, the shootouts. Its has it all for a great western film. Violence - 9/10 This film has shootouts and scenes with blood. Tuco is beaten up by one of Angel Eyes' henchmen during a brutal interrogation. His face is shown with blood on it. Later in that scene an interrogator tries to gouge his eyes, but stops before any damage is done. A prostitute is beat up. Her lip is shown bleeding. There is also a very violent civil war scene. One man is seen with many wounds on his chest, arms, and legs. Blood is clearly visible. Later, when a doctor tries to stop the bleeding with cotton weed pads, the blood, that soaks the pads is seen. Tuco throws a guard off the moving train and repeatedly hits the back of his head on a rock. Tuco forces Blondie, who is dying of thirst, to crawl through the desert at gunpoint as a revenge for his previous betrayal. Numerous men are killed quickly by gunshots, some in one-on-one gun duels, others by military skirmishes and firing squads. Primarily bloodless, but corpses are often shown. Sex/Nudity - 4/10 One minor female character is a prostitute. Tuco's bare butt is shown briefly in one scene. Language/Swearing - 5/10 8 uses of b*stard, 3 uses of b*tch (2 paired with son of a), 1 use of a*shole, 1 use of bullsh*t, and 1 use of G*ddamn. Drinking/Smoking - 8/10 Characters are shown frequently drinking and smoking throughout the film. Eastwood smokes in nearly every scene.
