Rathbone and Bruce are amazing, and the story of the Hound is ever captivating!

This timeless movie is family friendly while still be captivating like the story it was based on! Rathbone is so brilliant as Holmes you’ll forget he’s only acting and not the detective himself, straight out of Doyle’s stories! Bruce is a bumbling and lovable Watson that everyone would want as a friend. This movie is barely scary, but it does naturally include the subject of murder (and one small mention of “the needle”, in reference to Holmes’ drug habit), so what age is appropriate is really dependent on the child. Watson and Holmes are great role models for children in terms of their friendship and loyalty to each other, and their determination to triumph over evil and set wrongs right.
