Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
One unhappy Christmas Eve, twins Alfie and Elise find a magical wish watch and are whisked away to THE LAND OF SOMETIMES—a fantastical place where all four seasons pass in a single day. But when the Wish Collector (Ewan McGregor) grants them a total of six wishes, the siblings get more than they bargained for. They embark on a musical adventure where wishes have consequences, especially if they want to get back home safely.
Is It Any Good?
With animation as beautiful and as colorful as the British accents, The Land of Sometimes offers whimsy, catchy songs, and plenty to keep its target audience entertained. As it tackles real-life emotions with big fantastical worlds, this musical adventure sometimes teeters on being "too much" for adult audiences, with its whiny voices and over-the-top creatures. But kids will appreciate the honest main characters, engaging music, steady story pacing, and silly tangents to paint the bigger picture: that no wish could ever replace the most important things in life. Love, family, and gratitude, especially that twin sibling bond, is worth staying present in real life.
