The Love Scam
What's the Story?
Brothers Vito (Antonio Folletto) and Antonello (Vincenzo Nemolato) are among the last tenants of a downtown building falling apart in THE LOVE SCAM (Mica รจ Culpa Mia). They might have to move out, but their stable home is a key factor in Vito's application for sole custody of his baby son from a runaway ex-girlfriend. Antonello fashions a plot for Vito to scam some needed funds from a wealthy heiress, Marina (Laura Adriani), in order to save their home. Love may complicate the scam.
Is It Any Good?
What begins as a bumbling Italian comedy slowly morphs into a sweet romance with likable characters and a positive social message. It's a shame The Love Scam has that uneven start, because in today's click-away streaming culture, viewers might not stay long enough to appreciate the film's charms.
Adriani and Folletto have great chemistry, and their romance develops sweetly as each realizes what's important to them as individuals, and that their values and passions will only be supported by the right partner. Street-level and panoramic views of Naples add additional flavor, and some late-reveal plot twists keep the narrative momentum going.
