The man in the moon

Personally I think this film is the best I've seen in a while it's a nice family film with little violence, little sex and not much swearing. I think it depends what the child thinks of life her/his viewpoint as well

Cute coming-of-age tale is well-made and emotional.

The Man in the Moon is an entertaining movie about a 14-year-old girl who finds her first true love. The quality of The Man In the Moon is very well-made. It involves and relates to both young and old audiences and is mostly family-friendly. For fans of Reese Witherspoon, this is a must see! Her performance is incredible! Parents should be aware, however, of some mature content sprinkled about including the following:
___________________________________________________________________
- Implied sexuality in one scene includes mild partial nudity.
___________________________________________________________________
- Some innocent, rear nudity on the young main character, and several scenes of other mild partial nudity.
___________________________________________________________________
- Some domestic, abuse-related violence and a bloody, shocking, and disturbing image/scene towards the end.
___________________________________________________________________
- Some swearing (a--, g-d--n, etc) and sexual references (boobs, cherry, etc).
___________________________________________________________________
- Budding sexuality on a 14-year-old girl involves kissing and skinny-dipping with a seventeen-year-old boy.
___________________________________________________________________
Parents should also note that teens are rebellious and rude to their parents. Teens curse, kiss, and sneak out together without their parents knowledge. Dramatic events also occur throughout the film, including a father whipping his daughter with a belt, a miscarriage, and a shocking, very intense and sad occurrence toward the end of the movie. All these things leave the characters emotionally scarred and hurt.
___________________________________________________________________
*Spoiler Starts Here!* The ending is very sad. Danny's crush and neighbor, Cort, ends up falling off his tractor and getting ran over by it. He ends up dying, which leaves Danny in tears as she looks toward the sky for someone to talk to. This ending is very sad and will probably make emotional audience members cry. *Spoiler Ends Here!*
___________________________________________________________________
While the ending may depress some viewers, for the most part the movie is positive and cute. What parents should consider before letting their kids watch The Man in the Moon is the idea of sneaking out with boys/girls is ok and that being rebellious is a part of growing up. If your kids and teens aren't discerning enough, The Man in the Moon is an iffy choice for them.
___________________________________________________________________
In closing, The Man in the Moon is a great movie for discerning teens who will not be influenced by the behavior of the very relatable main character. Parents should also be aware of the nudity, sexuality, domestic violence, and mild language and sexual references. The Man in the Moon should be ok for most teenagers, however, it is not recommended for children.

This movie is very good but also very sad. There is a horrific scene with a tractors blades and might be upsetting for some.
