Parent of a 8, 8, and 11-year-oldWritten byAllie MMarch 11, 2017
Better than most Penguins of Madagascar
I find the Madagascar franchise to be somewhat hit-or-miss, but this one is outstanding. It starts out with the usual inane plot but culminates in a hilarious musical number driven by Neil Patrick Harris' Blowhole character.
I chose age 8 just because of typical cartoon violence, laser beams shooting at the animals and lots of explosions, but nothing terrible. I highly recommend this one. Our kids, ages 8 and 11, loved it -- they love all of the Madagascar shows.
It's silly, but there's nothing objectionable. I think they added Neil Patrick Harris's power-ballad solo to appeal to Gen-X (and presumably early millennial) parents. My 7-year-old enjoyed the song but didn't find it as funny as I did!
