What's the Story?
THE REVOLUTION GENERATION follows several youth groups and young organizers from all walks of life and backgrounds as they put their energy and hope into creating a better world for everyone. By showing what young people are doing to make the planet better, it takes older generations to task for denigrating their younger counterparts.
Is It Any Good?
This documentary is a salve for those who are constantly scared by news reports regarding racial discrimination, the climate crisis, and other injustices. The Revolution Generation doesn't shy away from these injustices; instead, it shows viewers that there are people out there who are working to solve these issues. And those people need our help instead of derision.
The film challenges those who might be tempted to call millennials and other young people lazy or unmotivated to truly understand the hurdles they're up against, from a nearly impossible-to-crack job market to the pressures from social media to appear perfect and put together. Even the issues young activists are campaigning against are draining their well-being, since these issues directly affect them (as well as all of us). Overall, The Revolution Generation exemplifies how these young people are taking it upon themselves to remake the world in their image, which seems to be a pretty good one -- a world in which climate justice, social justice, and racial justice are top priorities and individuality is encouraged. The film is likely to inspire viewers, including younger ones, to find their inner activist and join the wave of positive change.
