A decent Prequel.
Contrary to the CSM claim, this is a prequel to the 1982 classic of the same name - called such because, well, what else could you call it? It details the story of the Norwegian base and their finding, and exhumation of an alien space craft, along with its passenger. Not as good as the original, with many of the effects being CGI rather than practical effects due to studio interference, which lessens the impact of the creature(s). The end segues seemlessly into the 1982 film.

The Thing prequel Gory Monster fun
This movie does lack where the 80's version delivers, mostly in that the special effects come across as overdone. People die in ways that computer graphics can't really make believable, but do not think that this makes this movie an okay for younger teens. It's one of those movies where just about everyone dies, and if they are dying, then you are seeing it. Not for kids. A fun movie for the monster movie fan, but not for kids.

disturbing, graphic, and violent.
This movie was better than I thought it would be after seeing the trailer. Kind of unsure during the movie to exactly what the thing was, as what was happening wasn't explained very well. There's some drinking, but not too much. Swearing throughout the movie. The creature copies human cells, and takes the form of humans. Bodies bursting apart, creatures and humans morphing together, people/creatures being set on fire are just a few of the very graphic things that happen. Would not suggest to a family with kids younger than 16.

Worst Horror Remake
This remake is terrible in every single matter. There is no plot, there are no characters, there is nothing interesting to see here. The film is really graphic watching the corpse of the monster, other people getting eaten alive by the creature, people getting mixed into the monster, etc. But the rest is so dull and boring that it makes no sense why did they make a remake. DO NOT take your kids below 17 to watch this movie, and I think it would a waste of your time and money. On the sex part, well there is a strong sex joke mentioned at the beginning of the movie. There is a lot of foul language used in the film.

Mature 15.
Rated R for strong creature violence and gore, disturbing images, and language.

Pretty Descent, Very Gory
This movie is a pretty decent prequel to an excellent 1982 movie. I would recommend that the movie is fine for anyone over the age of 16. It is very gory at times and has a few minor make-you-jump scenes, but in the long run it is sci-fi so nothing to detrimental. The language is very profane at times with repeated use of the f-word, s-word, Godd****t. Anyone under the age of 16 I think would be fine as long as they are not scared easily and if you think they can handle the gore and language.

Bloodtests arent needed for this awesome film.
It was a VERY great Prequel. DO NOT watch unless you've seen the original "The Thing".
It definitely has violence in it, but not as bad as some movies (Aliens). Little bits and pieces of language, but again, not as bad as some movies.
Overall, though- on on and more on for 10+.
