What's the Story?

In TROUBLE, Conny (Filip Berg), a good-hearted electronics salesman, finds himself being framed for a murder he didn't commit. In prison he must find a way to prove his innocence, although this gets him involved in even more trouble as he unwillingly agrees to help a group of gangsters escape from prison while trying to uncover a network of police corruption.

Fans of a good Hitchcock throwback will find themselves in movie heaven with this fast-paced Swedish thriller with comedic undertones. In Trouble, Conny (Filip Berg), a well-meaning electronics salesman who can't say no to helping others, one day finds himself next to a dead man while holding the murder weapon. Once in prison, desperately trying to prove his innocence, he becomes involved in mishap after mishap, as the film escalates into chaos expertly handled by director Jon Holmberg.

But the film would fall flat on its face if it wasn't for the "everyman" charm of Berg, who makes for an unlikely action hero but a brilliant comedian. His droll delivery and ability to make even the wildest situations plausible make for a hero everyone can root for. The film's violence and language might be off-putting for some viewers, but overall Trouble is a stylish, entertaining thriller in the vein of genre classics like True Lies.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about Conny's inability to say no to others. Can you always help those in need? When is it wise to say "sorry, I can't help"?

  • Is the story realistic? What elements seemed like they could happen in real life? Which were too outlandish?

  • How does Diana show loyalty? How does Conny show courage?
