Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
In UNTOLD: JAKE PAUL THE PROBLEM CHILD, Jake Paul and his older brother Logan talk about their early YouTube days as up-and-coming content creators and social media sensations. But after the world began to hate Jake Paul, he had to find a new purpose in life. He found boxing.
Is It Any Good?
This documentary tries to humanize Jake Paul, generate sympathy and admiration for him, and suggest that he's the next special thing in the boxing world. But the behind the scenes and "intimate" look at Jake Paul's life in Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child is anything but hard-hitting. The film merely mentions in passing a few of the controversies Paul has faced over the last decade, and instead chooses to focus primarily on the Paul brothers' accomplishments, amazing numbers of subscribers and views they've garnered, and how much money they've made. The documentary quickly becomes one long advertisement for Jake Paul and his brother's brands, products they endorse and have stakes in, and their future endeavors, like Jake's boxing career.
One half of the film amazes at the brothers' early YouTube years while the last half follows Jake's newfound love of and dedication to boxing, which also largely just reads like one long promotional film meant to generate more pay-per-view buys for Jake's next or future fights. However, fans and followers of Jake Paul will likely enjoy this open look at him and his brother, how they work together, plan their businesses, and smartly cash in on people disliking them.
