This drama directed by Zoya Akhtar tries to entertain while delivering thought-provoking messages on the value of life, friendships, and relationships. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a feel-good bromance involving three childhood friends. A tad cheesy in places, it tries to take a philosophical tone to some of life's challenges. Yet with its sprinkling of silly humor, the result is more a lighthearted fantasy film that shouldn't be taken too seriously, no matter how serious it takes itself. The film also takes a position of privilege that suggests there's nothing that can't be solved by a luxury road trip to a foreign country. In this case, that country is Spain, which it does with panning shots and a touristy gaze. But look beyond this, and you'll find a charisma-filled Bollywood movie that more than passes the time.
