What's It About?

MELON'S HOUSE PARTY is musical podcast about the relationship between Melon, an eight pound dog, her friends (many of whom are objects in the house she lives in): a record player that sings all day long, a computer, a bookshelf and of course her best friend in the entire world, Couch as well as her human parents Luke and Chloe. Melon and her friends go on adventures learning lessons about friendship, courage, empathy and perseverance along the way. Listeners follow Melon's specific journey of self discovery as she comes to terms with the fact that, unlike her friends, she doesn't know much about where she came from. Each episode has a relatable and heartfelt life lesson that young listeners (and their adults!) can learn from.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about how Melon's House Party is like an audio musical theater. What are some similarities and differences to listening to musical theater as a podcast and watching it?

  • Melon and her friends show teamwork, perseverance and curiosity in their many adventures. Why are these important character strengths?

  • In the podcast, Melon doesn't know her mom and doesn't know much about where she came from. At first she compares herself to her other friends who do know where they came from, but when she goes on a journey of self discovery, she realizes that this is only part of her story, but not all of it. Think about your family, your friends and people you look up to. Does everyone have the same story and background? How do our differences make us special?
