What’s It About?
In SESAME STREET LISTOS PARA LA ESCUELA, Rosita (Muppet) and her grown-up human friend, Sofía, talk to kids and families about what to expect and how to be successful in starting school for the first time or going back to school after time off. Topics covered are the first day of school, making new friends, classroom rules, the teacher, recess, and morning routines. One episode geared to each of the grade levels is offered on each subject. Besides the short introductory episode, each show follows a pattern where the goal of the lesson is explained. Kids and parents are interviewed, and the teacher, Señorita Laura, offers a tip of the day. The show is wrapped up with an interactive game to reinforce the lesson.
Is It Any Good?
Kids' and families' feelings related to the unknown at the beginning of a new school year are addressed with empathy in this cheerful and thoughtful podcast. In Sesame Street Listos Para la Escuela, our youngest learners are given a series of tools to help them on their journey through what may be their first experiences in an academic and social setting with their peers. The topics are relevant and meaningful to both kids and parents, and set the foundation for a successful first day and school year. The addition of kid interviews helps children relate and identify with the messages on a more personal level, while the familiar and simple-to-follow games at the end of each episode give kids actionable skills to practice. The valuable lessons provided in this podcast are delivered in bite-sized pieces that are well worth the listen.
