What's the Story?

1670 is styled as a documentary set in the Middle Ages, following a dysfunctional Polish noble family. The patriarch's financial mismanagement leads to rivalry with neighbors who buy part of his village, setting the stage for absurd, anachronistic conflicts that mirror modern societal issues.

This Polish comedy is a medieval version of The Office minus Michael Scott's misguided charm. While the satirical approach of 1670 is clever and topical, the humor often falls flat. The portrayal of historical figures dealing with today's issues is an interesting twist, but the jokes soon become repetitive and predictable.
