A trashy, filthy series that could have been a western classic

What a great series this could have been. Great story... Beautiful country... All the elements of a modern western classic. My question is: Why did the makers of this film have to junk it up with the filthy, foul language and sexual immorality. The first episode wasn't so bad, but the filth gets progressively worse with subsequent episodes to the point where we turned it off and we will not watch it again. I was so disgusted that I cancelled our Paramount+ subscription.

Ep. 7: sudden graphic nudity. 👎

My family and I were crazy about this show! Until episode 7…. No, thank you. We have watched Yellowstone and 1883, and now we finally made it to episode 7 of 1923. I was so shocked and saddened to my core to see the very graphic sex scene (the scene featuring two women), including nearly full nudity. The show could have made the same point without such a display of nudity, which unnecessarily alienates viewers from a lot of cultural backgrounds. I personally wouldn’t watch anything like this with my family, nor with friends. I have recommended the show to all my friends, but now, I’ll tell them to not waste their time. I don’t need this crap, and can’t recommend it to others either. Hell, this show is over for me. I will miss the Duttons, but must pass on this show to honor the principles that are important in my life, personally. I know lots of people agree with me, and for those who may feel different, you do you… But for me, dropping this show and staying true to my own principles, values and beliefs is a matter of honor and self-respect 🫡 🙏

Epic story, gratuitous sexual content

Panoramic scenery. Epic actors. I wanted to love this series and watch it with my family but we generally don’t watch porn on Friday evenings together. I don’t mind the language and violence because they portray reality at this period of time but the gratuitous exploitation of the female characters is excessive. We all need to know what happened in the Indian schools in the early 1900s, it makes for a worthy conversation, but the over-the-top abuse is not something kids need to have in their heads. A truly talented screenwriter can figure this out how to convey a message without completely pandering to the baser parts of our collective psyche. Back in town I’m really not sure why two naked prostitutes are required to move the story along. Nor why S&M is a necessary part of the storyline. Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford give remarkable performances and are the best over 60 couple portrayed in media that I’ve seen. Too bad I have to hit fast forward so often to enjoy their scenes together. Wouldn’t suggest show to anyone.

1923 filthiest

Like the theme of the story, however because of the filthy sexually and needless foul language. I now consider it unfit for any viewing. It is a real disgrace that Hollywood finds it necessary to put such content in every project they product.

Ben Richardson has made a porn

Wow. Gross. Ben Richardson turned something that could have been excellent into porn. It’s really sad and so lazy of him. Really disgusting choices in episode 7 which means it can never be seen by children. Why? What did you achieve with this other than point o it your lack of talent? Did Taylor Sheridan approve pornography? I think the “Hooker” scene needs to be edited out of the final version available for streaming. Also, be careful about hiring Ben Richardson.

Talented team of writers turn to sex for an audience...

It doesn't hold to the quality of 1883. Harrison Ford is disappointing. His acting and character haven't been up to expectations. The side stories are rich, however, and may end up pulling things together better. There were a few scenes of nudity in early episodes, but they have been becoming too much. A long nude shower scene, a long nude beach scene and in the most recent episode, a threesome and kitchen sex. Most of these scenes surprise you with no warning, making it very difficult to zip past if you are watching with teens like we WERE. We will not be continuing. Shame on them for taking the easy path to an audience. The writer and team has proven to have talent that doesn't require this sleeze. 1883 was one of the most powerful shows in all of television, with only a few, short and purposeful nude scenes.

1923 Episode 7 - took a great storyline and trashed it. That’s Hollywood. Seasoned actors like Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford permitting the sleazy dialogue and humiliating actions to females in a production, where they are the leading actors. Does not say much for their character. Sorry, young ladies your names won’t receive top billing. But you made your mamas and daddies proud. Do not imagine many Catholics are happy with the direction the storyline is moving.

Female nudity in every episode

The nudity is always thrown in and never progresses the story line. The nudity is always female and seems to be a time filler. Episode seven and eight have violent lesbian sex scenes that have nothing to do with the story. I think they are to show how horrible the men are, but we already knew that. There really needs to be female writers on staff for this show. The only women in the show that is not shown in a sex scene is 77 yrs old. My great grandmother ( a Montana rancher) would have laughed at Taylor Sheridan for writing this. I think 1883 was even a laugh with a 17 year old sleeping around with her family right there in plane sight. DO Not start watching this show with anyone that you can not sit through a sex scene or porn violence towards women. There are lots of guns, killing, a molestation, and many porn violence scenes. On a side note Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are amazing in the show. Maybe that is why I was surprised by the sex and violence in the show. They are not actors known for that type of entertainment.

Stop the nudity

This is has a good plot and good acting. The sex and nudity is over used and not needed at all. It has no value to the show. The cursing is a bit over the top as well. Scenery throughout the show is beautiful. I would most definitely would not not let young children or even our teens watch this because of the ridiculous amount of sex & nudity shown. We have stopped watching it all together in our house because of it. This could have been a fabulous show had it just not went to basic pornography.

Sexual and physical abuse of women and children

This show is full of violence against children and women- physical, sexual etc. I expected drama and murder as it’s a western and the other two shows are very violent. But this show has superseded the others with its massive amounts of female nudity combined with violence against women. It was very disturbing. I would not want my children watching this.
