What's the Story?
30 DAYS WITH: BRETMAN ROCK features beauty influencer and social media personality Bretman Rock as he prepares for, and goes on to, spend time living alone in the jungle. After spending two weeks looking at YouTube survival-themed videos and discussing the adventure with her assistant, Miss Kay, her sister Princess Mae, and other friends, he learns basic survival skills in a 24 hour boot camp with Samoan tour guide and edutainer Kap Te'o Tafiiti. Rock then ventures into the Hawai'i jungle for a week, where she must find shelter, build fire, look for food and water, and cope with the solitude. But in addition to surviving, Bret hopes to make a spiritual connection with his late father, and to rediscover more about himself.
Is It Any Good?
This predictable but enjoyable four-part series features Bretman Rock preparing for and ultimately setting on a one week solo jungle adventure. But as the beauty influencer packs makeup and boots for the trip, struggles to build a fire, and ultimately makes his way back, he also hints at who he really is outside of his social media persona. Meanwhile, interviews with him before and after the experience reveal some more personal, and more intimate, thoughts about his youth in the Philippines, and his relationship with his father. But the series lacks any real climactic moments, and if you're looking to connect to a deeper experience, 30 Days With: Bretman Rock doesn't really offer it. Nonetheless, no doubt fans will want to watch.
