Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Alaska Extreme is a series that explores the unique qualities of the U.S. state, especially its natural wonders. Each episode looks into a particular hobby, area, or phenomenon; these include paragliding, fishing, weather patterns, and the "off the grid" lifestyle some Alaskans are known for. An episode is devoted to the most dangerous aspects of "The Last Frontier," including bear attacks and extreme weather. The series drives home a message of respect for nature and taking the wilderness seriously. It's a little dry but families who love the outdoors and want to learn more about this massive, beautiful state will be entranced by the remarkable imagery.
Is It Any Good?
Each episode is densely packed with facts about Alaska and its inhabitants, as well as gorgeous images of this very special state. Depending on a viewer's interests, they may find some episodes more interesting than others, and even with lots dramatic music and images, it can be a bit dry. But there's lots here for nature lovers, especially those who want to learn more about why Alaska is considered such a special place.
