Alma's Summertime Musical
What's the Story?
In ALMA'S SUMMERTIME MUSICAL, the characters of Alma's Way compete in a contest to write the "song of the summer." Alma (Summer Rose Castillo) and her cousin Eddie (Luca Silva) hear about the contest while they're visiting family in Puerto Rico. Inspired by their surroundings, they write a song detailing everything they love about Puerto Rico. When they arrive home to the Bronx, they realize that they are inspired to write a song about their favorite Bronx things, too. Alma and Eddie create a new song to reflect what they love about both places: the family and friends that live there. They submit it to the contest, and (spoiler) contest host Sonny Soto (Flaco Navaja) chooses their song to be the "song of the summer"! Alma and Eddie perform their song on stage while family and friends cheer them on.
Is It Any Good?
Alma continues to charm in this sweet special. Kids who feel a dual connection between their family's country of origin and where their family lives now will strongly identify with the themes in Alma's Summertime Musical. All kids will enjoy the fun songs and dancing as well as watching Alma and Eddie work through the creative process to make something wonderful.
