What's the Story?
AMAZING ANIMAL VIDEOS is a collection of short clips that tell the stories of both domestic animals and wild creatures raised or cared for in captivity. Some videos are funny and homemade; others are short, touching documentaries about unique animals and their owners. For example, one story centered on a sickly young cow that was raised by its farmer owners inside their house and, as a result, became fast friends with the family dogs.
Is It Any Good?
At its best, Amazing Animal Videos teaches kids to appreciate and be kind to animals. On the downside, the show romanticizes the idea of owning exotic animals -- so parents should remind their kids about the dangers of interacting with wild animals. Overall, this is a great show for young animal enthusiasts because it encourages both curiosity and appreciation for animals and might inspire them to take an active role in preserving our environment and protecting the animal kindgom. And even though it's clearly intended for younger viewers, its charming stories and sometimes laugh-out-loud-funny clips can be enjoyed by the entire family.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about animals raised/cared for in captivity. Why are some animals raised by humans instead of in the wild? What responsibilities do their caretakers have? What safety precautions should you take when handling or encountering wild animals? How can you make a difference in animal preservation?
