Commonsense review underplays the worst in this series

Who wrote the commonsense review? Did the person even watch the entire series or just the first episode? It completely downplays significant content that a parent or guardian might want to know. Contrary to the Commonsense review the series DOES contain more than a few F-bombs, the word seems to be a universal expression used at least 50 times per episode. The main character also uses "Jesus Christ" a lot which I find offensive for the sheer fact that Jesus doesn't have anything to do with what's going on- on that ship. The only character that doesn't use this language is the AI "William" but he's got other issues. Also the sex scene of the threesome is basically porn, the sex between a human and AI is just...(I can't even with that), then you have everyone hooking up with everyone and no real sense that anything more than lust is driving these encounters. At least in daytime soaps there's some effort to build a relationship not just odd glances in the middle of space. It's really sad because I was excited to watch this after seeing "Away," and "Lost In Space," Netflix needs to realize that if you have good writing, you don't need to infuse the script with gratuitous cursing and sex, that masquerades as love. And commonsense please pay me, I'll watch the full program and write a review that actually reflects the full content.

if I could give this 0 stars I would

Don't bother. The acting is disappointing, the characters are mediocre at best and the storyline is boring. This is full of US terms such as 'blowing smoke up your a**'. There is a reason this has such a low rating on rotten tomatoes.

DO NOT SHOW KIDS

I used the Common Sense Media rating to decide to allow my older child to watch this show with me. All I can guess is that Common Sense Media based their rating on the first three episodes. After that there is a quick descent into drug fueled sexual experimentation that doesn’t seem to have much to do with the plot. The sci fi aspects of the show seem to feel no compulsion to obey physical laws or even to be consistent between episodes. The show wasted a perfectly good cast with atrocious writing.

Slow, boring and of course has to push the agenda

I know, I know liberal parenting says 13 and older is fine to watch, probably and certainly there are much worse things for them to view. But after you get around the weak leadership, who apologizes and cries about everything, then you must move past the constant cussing for apparently no other reason than well... its edgier, but is it. Finally the last thing you will need to know is the episode where every one is banging each other, including the wonderful threesome, sure lets your kids watch and make up their own minds, sure. So after you get through all of that, well it is nothing but a jumble mess, doesn't know exactly what it is. Is it a Sci Fi channel rip off, or is it trying to be a bit more serious like a Star Trek show, either way it doesn't really know and makes very little sense for everyone, including the actors.

Mediocre

So far this series is disappointing. Graphics and acting are mediocre at best. There is a lot of swearing and little sexual references. My daughter is 11 and we love sci-fi shows. I am allowing her to watch this despite the swearing. We know our children better than anyone, use discretion.

Not for kids or possibly adults. Garbage.

Spoilers: Sexual situations between straight men and trans men, and between a woman and 2 men simultaneously, and some mild nudity. Also some gore in a few episodes. Seemed like a cool series until like several other Netflix series they ramp up the unnecessary sexual content after the 3rd episode. Also about 30 F words an episode, like a child that just learned to swear. On top of that it gets really stupid. I’m sure there will be those that disagree but you were warned. Sad that this is now considered on trend and entertainment. Oh and drug use shown in favorable light ....almost forgot. Common Sense Media sure seems biased to not include these details in their reviews....especially if they profit from movie purchases....SMH.

Good but too much sex

I enjoyed the story but was so disappointed after watching almost the whole 1st season. I got to an episode toward the end of season 1 in which there was a woman having sex with 2 men together, and a scene which eluded to a woman masturbating while virtually reliving a sex scene with her husband. You see her stick her hand down her pants. I wanted to finish the season, but couldn't justify continuing after this.

Like the show, HATE the language.

We (including our two teenage boys) like the show. But the F-Word in every third sentence sometimes is absurd! I'm not a prude who can't take some F-Words when appropriately added. But constantly? Who talks like that? Professionals that were hand picked for an important space mission? The constant F-Words add NOTHING to the movie so I don't understand why producers put it in. Do people really watch shows and complain if there isn't enough F-Words? Good grief. Will continue to watch it anyway because we like it otherwise. But if it gets worse we'll drop it.

Some very good contemporary themed film making. Strong character actors.

This is an innovative and path breaking series that takes some thoughtful gambles (that pay off) with its plot point and character development. Strong female lead characters. Good science. There are a lot of bad words but its all in good standing w/r to the realistic take on space flight, group dynamics. I think its a really well done over all effort. Plot's actually interesting. Much more so than some of the other reviews give it credit for.
