What's the Story?

An intimate look into the life of heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, aka "The Gypsy King," as he retires and settles with his wife and six children in his hometown, Morecambe, UK. LIFE WITH THE FURYS not only captures Tyson's experiences but also follows the journeys of his father, his brother Tommy, and Tommy's pregnant girlfriend, Molly-Mea, who found love on the reality dating show Love Island.

A show that should be a fascinating exploration into the impact of fame and mental health on family dynamics, set against the backdrop of Irish Traveller culture, doesn't land a punch. It's certainly a captivating cast of characters that makes up At Home with the Furys, including six sassy kids and a young pregnant couple whose relationship was forged on a reality dating show. Add to that Tyson's nonstop schedule and his candid struggles with bipolar disorder, and chaos pretty much reigns supreme. Where the series falters, though, is in it's inability to keep viewer's attention due to its overwhelmingly frenetic energy. This isn't a show anyone's going to be talking about, despite its unique subject matter.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about how much Tyson's life changed when he retired. Why does his wife say that she's worried it won't be good for him? Why is having a routine and exercising regularly so important for his mental health?

  • Talk about how the role of women in the Gypsy culture is portrayed. Why do you think Paris doesn't have the same expectations for her daughter that her family had for her as a girl?

  • Talk about Tyson's struggle with mental health disorders and addiction. Discuss why the two things often go hand-in-hand.
