What's the Story?
AUNTY DONNA'S BIG OL' HOUSE OF FUN is a sketch comedy show starring the Australian group Aunty Donna. The three comedians play suburban housemates, and the sketches grow out of their day-to-day lives as they watch TV, tinker with their WiFi settings, interview potential new housemates, search for treasure, sing songs, and talk to their dishwasher.
Is It Any Good?
Sketch comedy shows tend to be a mixed bag. Even if it were possible to nail every joke, every viewer is going to have a different sense of humor. It's more about throwing out as many different ideas as possible and hoping some of them land. That's exactly what Aunty Donna does, and their show comes off like a sampler of contemporary comedy sensibility. Tim Robinson's I Think You Should Leave and the Adult Swim shows are touchstones, and Monty Python is an obvious influence. All that makes it an easy and fun watch, even if the jokes aren't always funny.
