Good show, some parts iffy

BEASTARS is a really good show, I’ve watched the entire season twice but there are some parts that are a little explicit.
The show is mainly about psychological issue between predators and prey and is the more adult version of zootopia in a way. It takes place in a high school called cherryton high and starts out with murder scene. This scene is suspenseful but no murdering is actually shown but it is confirmed the next day. This leads to the herbivores in the school become more uneasy around the carnivores and the story goes on from there from the main perspectives of a rabbit and a wolf who eventually befriend each other. There are some sexual scenes but no “parts” are shown and it is very brief, however during one of the later episodes the rabbit is forced to strip down in front of a male lion to “examine” her after she was kidnapped and inspected to see if she had any blotches on her fur. There also is a fair amount of blood but it’s spaced out over time as well as a scene of a hand missing fingers ( THERES no blood but it may scare younger children in this scene). One of the main characters also shoots a carnivore in the head in the ending scenes but nothing is shown. There are a few curses but most are mild and they are infrequent. However Most of the main characters are good role models such as Jack who always is a great friend to Legoshi and legoshi the main character stands up to bullies and resists devouring herbavores despite the warfare in his mind. 13 year olds could watch this as long as they are properly educated.

Being Honest.

Alright, let’s be honest here. Almost every child unfortunately knows something about sexual actions due to the internet, I believe that kids 12 and up should be able to watch this IF and only IF they can handle it, there is some gore scenes that not many people can handle so if you are interested in this you should take caution. Overall, this show is amazing! I absolutely loved it.

Rated 15 (sexual threat and assault, violence, sexual scenes, bloody images).

SEX/NUDITY - There are some sexual scenes throughout the show, as well as some verbal sex references. The sexual scenes are not too explicit, and focus more on the suggestion of something sexual taking place. The strongest of these scenes occurs between two characters in a hotel room, where major differences between the two cause significant complications, and doubts on whether they should go ahead with having sex. While no actual sex takes place, much of their physical interactions are sexual in nature, creating a sexual atmosphere. Verbal sex references include a character telling another character that she will have sex, even if it's "rough", as well as other milder references. There is infrequent very brief nudity. VIOLENCE/GORE - There are some scenes of moderate violence, as well as scenes in which the violence is stronger in nature and dwells on the sight of blood. One of these stronger scenes depicts a character who repeatedly punches another character in the face whilst on the floor, before the other character pushes him off and claws on his back, causing him to bleed onto the floor. Other moments include a bloody mauling, a character being shot in the head (mainly suggested), as well as other beatings. Moderate bloody images are prevalent throughout. PROFANITY - There is occasional mild language ("slut", "crap", "ass" etc). DRINKING/DRUGS/SMOKING - In one scene, there is suggestion that a character wants to drink rabbit blood in order to get stimulated, much like a drug would, although this isn't explored in depth. There are also some scenes of smoking. THREAT/HORROR - There is a sequence of sexual threat which leads to sexual assault, when a character is ordered to remove her clothes in front of a male character, and she is eventually shown to be shoved on the floor as the male character holds her down and gazes at her rear, making iffy comments about her meat. Although it isn't particularly prolonged, and doesn't go into graphic detail, the sequence remains disturbing. There are also some sequences of moderate threat, as various characters are chased by carnivore characters to be eaten. Other issues include some mild horror/frightening images. NOTE - This review is for the English dub of the show.

15 - Suitable only for persons aged 15 years and over. Contains strong content, and is not recommended for viewing by any person below the age of 15.

Not as Bad as it's TVMA rating on Netflix

It touches on some pretty interesting topics including a lot about discrimination (portrayed between herbivores and carnivores). Though the warning on Netflix says there is "nudity" its really more like shadows of the characters body like in twilight breaking dawn part 2. The warning also included warning of smoking though that was seen in Sex Education on Netflix as well. I have to say skipping over the sex part of Haru's life would be pretty hard. That aspect of the show is really important for the character development in her and her ability to find self worth. Overall it is a good show and recommend it to very mature 12 year olds or 13 and up.

Anyone who says this show isn't suitable for people under 18 make me laugh.

There's literally one nudity scene, if you can even call it that - you never actually see anything and she is literally a rabbit. Second as far as cussing if there was any it wasn't enough to be noticeable. Violence, very little other than a couple fist fights and one action scene at the end. This was an amazing anime, the only thing that made me knock it down a star was the last 2 episodes but none the less I'm super excited for the 2nd season. I would say if your kid is 13, possibly 12 or over they can definitely watch it - thats coming from an actual teenager, not a parent who knows nothing about what kids in this age are exposed to in the media or even outside of it.

It has positive messages. I think it's basically Zootopia but the mature version. In your a teenager WACTH IT! My sister is mature for her age and is 10 years old. She watched it, she just ignored them inappropriate parts since there was just a few.

Amazeballs

The show was a great watch. I think the 17+ rating is a bit much, but if you don't like violence or sexual stuff, then it probably isn't for you. Though there are some scenes where Haru (bunny girl) is seen with some boys, because she isn't really human, I don't think it was really inappropriate. If your over fourteen or you can handle this kinda stuff and your parents approve, then give it a watch!

Amazing show with beautiful messages.

Amazing show!
This series is an outstanding example of what can be done with well done and thought out symbolism. The closest thing I could compare this too would be Zootopia but with much more depth and conflict. It delves into themes such as racism and sexual abuse, while still being non-offensive. Beastars does have sexual moments, but not for fan service, but to drive the plot forward. Beastars also has a beautiful jazz soundtrack! So even if you don't end up watching it, you could still listen to some nice music from the soundtrack. This show about anthropomorphic animals has a lot to say about us humans, and I love it!

Keep an open mind.

One of the main comments I have heard from people watching this show is "Why is there so much explicit talk? They are high schoolers! They shouldn't be having sex!" People need to keep in mind that Beastars is a JAPANESE anime based off JAPANESE manga. In Japan, the age of consent (age you can have sex) is as low as 13 years old (lowest of any developed country. It is actually quite common for teens to have casual sex, but there are laws being discussed to change this. If you do not live in Japan, please keep an open mind and realize that these teens are not breaking any laws (besides murder) when having intercourse.

Edgy Zootopia ripoff anime for furries is actually amazing!

Don't be turned off by the title because I genuinely love this show.

Beastars is definitely a show with mature themes such as sex and violence, but these mature themes extend way more towards the deep side of political and social problems. It presents themes about discrimination and prejudice in the lens of carnivores and herbivores. It shows the struggles of opposing sides of animal species attempting to live together in a supposedly safe and ordered urban society. It also portrays the stigma surrounding relationships between opposing social groups (Legosi and Haru's relationship of being different species)

It's TV-MA, so don't expect it to be for kids. There is blood and somewhat disturbing violence. There are sexual themes mainly involving the innocent, preyed upon Haru. Overall, definitely not a kids show, but would highly recommend if you want a deep story with a lot to think about after watching.

Sexuality, blood, and violence

Best anime netflix has made. It is not an easy anime for younger kids. There is some violence and a lot of sex, but over all, Legoshi is a fun character. They battle with society and one another to beat their instincts and learn about the world. (There is slight use of the 'Black Market' but it's nothing like today's black market)

Great anime for mature kids!

With this one, in all honesty it depends on the kid. I watched it for the first time when I was 13 and was totally fine. There's no explicit sex stuff, though there are still a few sexual scenes. They never really go anywhere, though. And in terms of violence, there are a handful of bloody scenes. If your kid feels they are ready to watch it, then I'd say go ahead!

Plenty of sexual hints, but very little besides that

Beastars in an anime on Netflix. It revolves around Legoshi, a gray wolf. As a carnivore, he is subject to basically racism, something that is one of the core themes of the show. Early in the show he nearly kills and eats Haru, a dwarf rabbit. After this event he befriends her, though she doesn't know he could have been her killer. They go through school, with characters like Louis and Bill all adding there own wrinkles to the story. The story also deals with the death of Tem, a sheep who was murdered by carnivores. This leads to the racism aspects of the show with some herbivores blaming all carnivores, and the carnivores not handling it well. This is handled very well along with the other stuff Legoshi goes through it has him as a great role model.

Story aside, is it okay for your kid? Yeah, probably. There's violence, but not that much and it's never something you wouldn't in 50% of any show ever. There's also some swearing, but it's not that bad really. You'll hear more in Middle School. However, there is plenty of sexual content. There's never any real porn, but there a few times it comes close. Sex is also referenced plenty, but unlike in other shows it's not glorified. It's not condemned either though, it's just done in a real way that would resemble most High Schools if there wasn't a pandemic going on. If you don't like that, then I'd suggest avoiding it but honestly if a kid is 14 they're horny and they've already seen porn. This is nothing compared to that.

Beautiful anime series is fine for 13+

This series is beautiful, but not for young kids. There is a fair amount of sex, but nothing horrible other than one scene where a rabbit removes her clothes left only in her bras and panties and says; “Even if you’re a bit rough, I’ll try to enjoy it.” (SPOILER ALERT) Common sense forgot to mention that at the end it gets pretty bloody, a deer shoots a lion in his mouth. A wolf bites a lions neck. A rabbit is disrobed (No nudity is seen) and is prepared to be cooked. But it sounds worse than it actually is. It’s fine for 13+, some 12 year olds too.

I feel Inspired, and hopeful, and persevering/resilient. I have a positive attitude moving forward. Because of the messages this show/and the manga gives.

The story takes place in a society, that struggles with prejudices against carnivores. It is about a main protagonist named Legoshi, that learns what it is, and what it means to be a living being, and he is learning to be stronger, and he realized his raison d'être. He is a paradigm of justice, and may even become the worlds next leader. Possibly. He works with Gohin, to capture people from the dark market, and technically defeat them. They are working as a team to make the word a better place. So facing against prejudices, walking on two feet, hand in hand with allies, avenging a friends death, all the while, while getting stronger, you have the worlds new leader, possibly. Everything will not be made right, the world is unjust, but you can choose to keep walking, and keep moving forward, to improve what’s around you, making you stronger, and others stronger. It is about facing society, and making a change for the betterment of others, the world, and yourself as well. It’s about having allies at this time, and making more allies, it’s about justice.
And it’s about not giving up. It’s about staying strong, and getting stronger, and combing strengths, as with friends, and allies; the world. It is about coming together, as to create a true society, rather than a fake one, that has barriers between people, whether carnivore, or herbivore.
He does his best to get along, and establish a relationship with carnivores and herbivores of all kinds. He doesn’t care about prejudices, or making prejudices. He cares about making a change. He cares about progress, and the world being successful. He doesn’t want the world to ruin itself in hate. He want’s the world to rue, not forget the past, and move on, by changing, rather than repeating. He is going to point out those mistakes, and lead the world through to a better future, he is the guiding light. He is illuminating the path that must be followed, when no one can see, because they choose to be blinded, by prejudices. But he can open they’re eyes, and make them walk through which and what is true, aside from what never was. He is hope. For a destination. It’s about not making more mistakes and not repeating histories mistakes. It’s about completing peace, by balancing it throughout everyone's hearts. And that's why he befriends people, no matter what they are, whether carnivore, or herbivore. He’s not scared of change.
( Some mild violence, but nothing isn't actually shown, for example, they show hand to hand combat, but if it's a gun, you would only see the shadow of the villain getting shot. You wouldn't actually see the villain, only his shadow.) ( There are sex scenes, but they don't show anything. And it really isn't even sex, since Legoshi wants to stay a virgin. )

Note: Melon is character shown in the manga, but in the show, I haven't seen him. I don't know if he'll make an appearance in the 2nd season of Beastars, he may only exist in the manga.
