What's the Story?

BEAUTY IN BLACK follows Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams), who's fighting to survive in a strip club after her mother abandoned her at 17. When Kimmie and best friend Rain (Amber Reign Smith) get caught in a drug run at the airport, they're at the mercy of Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield) since he helps them avoid jail time in exchange for doing sex work on the side. Kimmie begrudgingly tries to comply but can't shake the feeling of sinking deeper into a world that has no plans of letting her go. So, when she hears of a scholarship program funded by beauty mogul Mallory (Crystle Stewart), Kimmie doesn't hesitate to apply for a ticket to freedom. But she soon finds out that her dark world isn't far from Mallory's.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 3 ):
Kids say : Not yet rated

This series is murky and monotonous. Beauty in Black drags its characters into convoluted cruelty and corruption. The pacing of the story is spotty, and characters seem disoriented in their own actions. Audiences looking for their Tyler Perry fix will have better luck with his other dramas. The nonstop violence, sex, and language makes this suitable only for older teens.
