What's the Story?

CARÊME follows 19th century chef Marie-Antoine Carême (Benjamin Voisin), who refuses to cook for Napoleon Bonaparte, and then his father is suddenly arrested. Ally and diplomat Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord (Jérémie Renier) convinces Carême to take the chef position at Tuileries Palace, in exchange for his father's freedom. As Carême whips up decadent desserts in the palace kitchen, Talleyrand assigns him tasks to sneak information from under the emperor's nose. But as each task gets riskier, Carême realizes the price he's paying for his father's freedom and the future of France.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say : Not yet rated
Kids say ( 1 ):

This series portrays the delectable dangers of food, power, and politics. Carême is sensual, intriguing, and unique; Benjamin Voisin's portrayal of the "first celebrity chef" is charismatic and complex. The historical setting somehow feels refreshing, especially with the thriller aspects of the story. There are many layers to this series, and viewers (except for fans of the real-life Carême) won't know what to expect. The sexual content, language, and violence make this suitable only for older teens.
