What's the Story?

DELI BOYS follows Raj Dar (Saagar Shaikh) and Mir Dar (Asif Ali), two brothers who are the heirs to the lucrative Dar convenience store business. After the untimely death of their father (Iqbal Theba), they realize that he was actually the head of a criminal organization and their fortune is built on violence. With the begrudging help of their aunt and new head of the Dar crime family, Lucky (Poorna Jagannathan), the Dar brothers do their best to fit into the family business. Can they keep their father's legacy going despite not having any skills suited for the criminal life?

Is It Any Good?

This fun series presents viewers with a new perspective on action comedies. Deli Boys gives South Asian actors explosive, funny, and non-stereotypical characters to work with, and audiences clamoring for more diverse characters will be happy to see the Dar brothers (Ali and Shaikh) haphazardly bumble through their new criminal lives. Jagannathan is strong and intimidating as the cunning-but-maternal Lucky, who does her best to help the Dar brothers as their aunt, but truly feels they aren't cut out for the job.

Could there be more to the story? Sure. The series may take a while to its sea legs and grow beyond its funny premise. But overall, fans of action comedies involving hapless characters will like watching Mir and Raj figure out how to keep their father's legacy afloat as they stay two steps ahead of the law.
