Overflowing with over the top violence and shocking sex (although the animation style has limits that barely obscure the most pornographic details of both the sex and violence). Yet the final impression the show leaves is one of empathy and maturity. The extreme content serves as a catharsis to base human urges that eventually paints a path to understanding the horrors of human nuture be it lust, greed, hatred, dishonesty and more; a polar contrast to scenes and characters who represent morality and wholesomness. These things work in tandem to paint a picture of humanity and craft a message of what brings it crashing down.

This show has a lot of inappropriate aspects in this series though it is great, the story is definitely worth watching. If you like chainsaw man this is a great find

Don't judge from the beginning. I found a lot of lessons, philosophical meaning and expressions and true life in this. It is not meant for children I can tell you that. Swearing and nude anime characters but I found this to have a lot of meaning that could teach an advanced teen a lot of lessons.

The first episode is not enough to rate the movie. If I had just seen the first episode I would not have watched it. On a recommendation I watched the whole thing. Yes there is sex scenes, drugs, and violence but the movie in it's entirety brings out a lot of strong relations to how our world is!! I thought it was great. I would not watch this with children as it's obviously not meant to be watched with them. Heck, I was embarrassed at some of the scenes at age 32 but I would watch it with an older teenager who you knew could see behind the gore, and sex scenes and see the true meaning behind it. It's a very deep, thought provoking anime with stories being told about how the world really is.

When it first came out, I kept hearing about how "good" and "amazing" it was, so I figured I'd give it a try. Well, to put it simply, I'm glad I didn't finish it. Obvious satanic themes aside (and that's not much of a concern), this show is absolutely disgusting. In the first episode, we get a disgusting orgy party followed by an even more disgusting, tasteless gorefest. From then on, it's just a train wreck of constant gross sex scenes and revolting violence. I mean, sure, there's plenty of anime out there with sex and violence, but even shows like Berserk handled it tastefully and knew when not to put it in, balancing it out with great stories. This show obviously didn't care. It's all about sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex. It's annoying how much sex there is in it, they somehow handled it worse than even most HBO shows. And the violence is so abhorrently grotesque that I'm surprised this show was ever greenlit, let alone the manga in 1973 (in case you're wondering, the manga is just as disgusting, if not more so, I read it). For some reason, the creator, Go Nagai (I don't mean to bring too much attention to him, he's a fantastic manga creator, but not with this work) thought it was a good idea to give all the monsters disgusting sexual designs and plaster them just about everywhere. I know there's creativity in the story, but it's nigh impossible to see with all the disgusting stuff in it. On top of all that, the story didn't make up for anything, the characters had little to no depth, the story wasn't anything that special most of the time, and the pacing was just wrong somehow. I could not understand what was happening most of the time. I could not feel any emotion for any of the characters and didn't care about their struggles in the slightest. I stomached 3 of the 10 episodes of this and could not stand anymore, and I'm 18 for frick's sake. So if you're looking for a show that's fun to watch despite all the violence in it, stay away from this vile garbage heap. Though I'm aware a lot of people like it, more power to them, but I decided to save myself the eye torture.

Is this serious? Original devilman is much much better. This version seems parody. Half Neongenesis Evangelion and half Berserk. I feel really sorry to Go Nagai. Waste if time.
