What's the Story?

DIMENSION 20 is a groundbreaking, long-running series centered on TTRPGs (tabletop role-playing games), a form of collaborative storytelling in which performers create alter egos like elves, ogres, and fairies to embody. At the same time, the game master—a type of narrator/referee—guides them through the journey, also known as a "campaign." Each season has a different story and theme, such as "Fantasy High" (described as "John Hughes meets D&D") or "Dungeons and Drag Queens," in which a quartet of outrageously funny Drag Race veterans embarks on an imaginary adventure into the Underworld. The cast sits around a decked-out table covered with themed props that add to the atmosphere, and special dice are rolled to determine the success or failure of the players' choices.

The popularity of this inventive, playful series can't be overstated—they sold out Madison Square Garden with one of their live games—and it's well-deserved. The Dimension 20 storytelling is complex, hilarious, and surprisingly emotionally layered, and the fact that the theme changes from season to season keeps things unpredictable and fresh. The production value and sets are excellent as well. Whether you're a complete newbie to TTRPGs or a seasoned player, Dimension 20 is a gem of a show, packed with charismatic personalities and memorable narratives that make for very fun viewing.
