What's the Story?
DMV follows a group of workers at the East Hollywood DMV branch. Awkward driving examiner Colette (Harriet Dyer) crushes on the new hire Noa (Alex Tarrant) from New Zealand. Club bouncer-turned-examiner Vic (Tony Cavalero) teases her about this, as does Gregg (Tim Meadows), who used to be an English teacher. Photographer Ceci (Gigi Zumbado) thinks she has more to offer the world than taking license photos, and Barbara (Molly Kearney) has just been promoted to supervisor. But when people from the head office show up for an audit, the crew realizes they must survive a year of monitoring or they'll be shut down.
Is It Any Good?
This series is a chaotic and unserious look into one of the U.S.'s most dreaded but necessary government agencies. DMV is humorous, absurd, yet familiarly realistic at times. This cast is as cacophonous as they are oddly charming. Despite some swearing, romance, and a bit of injury, this show is suitable for most teens.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about why workplace comedies like DMV are such staples on TV. What's funny about a group of people who work together for hours a day but wouldn't otherwise be friends? How does setting this at the DMV affect the humor?
How are viewers supposed to feel about the characters? Are some supposed to be relatable and some absurd? Which characters are which, and how can you tell?
