Domino Masters
What's the Story?
DOMINO MASTERS is a reality competition show featuring teams building domino projects in hopes of winning cash. Hosted by Eric Stonestreet, it features teams of three using dominos and kinetic devices to create masterpieces that are original, tell a good story, demonstrate technical ability, and can tumble in a spectacular fashion. Actress and mathematician Danica McKellar, NFL player and artist Vernon Davis, and professional domino builder Steven Price are the judges who decide which teams do it best. The last team standing at the end of the overall competition wins $100K, a trophy, and the title.
Is It Any Good?
This fun, lighthearted series features innovative domino artists building epic structures, only to systematically and gloriously topple them. Each build, which takes long off-screen hours to complete, must fulfill a set of requirements, including chain reaction elements that will lead to spectacular tumbles. Adding to the excitement is Fox sportscaster Joe Buck's enthusiastic play-by-play of events as the builds come down, which helps add an element of drama to the whole thing. The humor gets silly at times, and despite references to STEAM principles, there's not a lot of educational lessons being offered. But Domino Masters is entertaining, and it's hard not to get caught up in it.
