What's the Story?

DON'T TOY WITH ME, MISS NAGATORO is a series centered around two school-aged teenagers who become unlikely friends. Naoto (voiced in English dub by Erik Kimerer), a shy and nerdy boy who is often alone and a target for bullies, meets Nagatoro (Kimberley Anne Campbell), a younger girl who's audacious and vulgar. She begins to bully him by calling him pathetic and focusing on his apparent lack of sexual experience. She pops up one day and bothers him every day, teasing and embarrassing him. The more she sticks by his side, the more she seems to tease him to show she has a crush on him and the more she grows on him. They begin sexually experimenting with each other as she talks about sexual topics constantly and he gives in to her pressure.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 4 ):
Kids say ( 5 ):

This high school comedy anime focuses more on shock value than having a quality plot and storyline. Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro is immature, shallow, and inappropriate for younger teens. Though experimentation is considered normal in teenagers' high school years, this show seems to be encouraging that exclusively, at the expense of character development. There were a few times I laughed, but only because the jokes were so crude, over the top, and ridiculous. The shock value of the jokes wears off because there are so many and it's such a large portion of the show. Bullying is also a theme that should not be encouraged. Overall, Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro is an attempt at a comedic take on the high school romance genre, but it's too focused on its sexual content.
