What's the Story?
Doug to the Rescue is a documentary series about a drone photographer who uses his skills to save animals. Doug Thron's drones aren't the garden variety style; they have infrared technology that allows him to see animal activity from a great distance. Footage from the drones is combined with interviews featuring Doug explaining his techniques and plans for each particular rescue situation. Doug's history is also explored; he talks about his first interest, saving the redwoods, and how he used his photography skills to fight for that cause. It was here that he learned the power of aerial photography and ultimately left his former life as a Hollywood cinematographer to devote all his time to animal rescues.
Is It Any Good?
It's really inspiring to see how Doug has found a way to help the animals he loves using the technology he's spent his life mastering. He certainly hasn't created an easy life for himself, but Thron's devotion to animals combined with his ingenuity and skill sets an incredible example for others who want to help the world but aren't sure how. This quiet, even-keeled hero's adventures are fascinating to watch, and animal lovers will appreciate his efforts to rescue all kinds of furry friends.
