What's the Story?

Hailing from New Zealand, DOWN FOR LOVE features single adults living with Down syndrome who are looking to meet the loves of their lives. The featured Kiwis are set up on blind dates in order to meet potential boyfriend or girlfriend material. With the help of their families and friends, they choose outfits, practice some good lines, and in some cases make plans for the future. A few couples share a little bit about their relationships, too. Sometimes sparks fly, and sometimes they don't, but it's a journey that these singles hope will lead them to the right person to give them companionship and affection.

This heartwarming series features adults living with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disorders looking to be part of a romantic relationship. Each single in Down for Love, along with their family and friends, talk about how they live their lives, and highlight some of the challenges they've faced when looking for someone to love. The dates, ranging from going out for wine to fishing trips, are fun to watch, too. Like any dating show, there are some awkward first encounters and ultimate rejections, but it's also lighthearted and treated with appropriate sensitivity. Overall, Down for Love challenges stereotypes about who is deserving of romantic love.
