What's the Story?
Ishaya (Mike Afolarin) is usually FAR FROM HOME, working several odd jobs at once. He's a struggling artist who's just been chosen for an apprenticeship with his role model in London -- except he can't afford to get there. With dreams and art forbidden in his household, Ishaya moves in secrecy to save. Soon he hatches a quick-fix plan to get money: Get into the prestigious Wilmer Academy, get top scores, and receive a hefty cash scholarship. But what started out as a simple plan quickly snowballs into a tangled web of lies, cheating, and stealing. How far will Ishaya go to achieve his dreams?
Is It Any Good?
This show is far from unconventional and has all the standard ingredients for a YA genre show. Far from Home has an engaging story and interesting characters that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The themes of classism and discrimination against the working class are presented as the norm, but there's potential for parents to have deeper discussions with their children while watching. That being said, the language and violence make this more suitable for older teens to watch.

Families can talk about how Far from Home portrays class differences. How do the rich and poor view each other? How do they relate?
Ishaya says he'll follow his dreams by "any means necessary." What are the obstacles Ishaya is facing? What are the causes of these obstacles? Is Ishaya justified in his actions to overcome them? Are there limitations to making dreams a reality?
