Formula E: Driver
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
FORMULA E DRIVER is a 4-episode documentary series in which a crew follows racers Jake Dennis, Mitch Evans, Dan Ticktum and others in their relentless and highly competitive quest to be the best Formula E race-car driver in the world.
Is It Any Good?
If you're into adrenaline, bravado and the glamorized lifestyles of men who race cars for a living, this is for you. There's an unapologetic tone to Formula E: Driver's win-at-any-cost mentality, and while some may find it exhausting, it may be right up the alley of some fans. For a documentary about Formula E (electric) drivers, viewers may be surprised to find out that the cars take a back seat to the profiles of a handful of men who got involved in racing when they were still in their single digits of life. At times, this feels less like a documentary and more like a reality program due to the erratic behavior of some of the drivers.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the strong personality traits of each Formula E driver. Who did you like and why? In your mind, what makes one driver more compelling than another? Was there anything you didn't admire, and why?
If you are a racing fan, did you know that "Formula E" denotes that the cars are electric? Is there a car race, electric or not, that you would like to attend, and if so, why?
Could you live the lifestyle of a professional driver? Could you handle the nerves? Travel? High-pressure situations? What do you think are the best and worst parts of the job?
