A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Frankie and Frank is a series of educational shorts, each lasting 1-2 minutes. Most cover either pre-reading or pre-math skills, including concepts like letters, numbers, rhyming, counting, shapes, and directions. Other episodes teach introductory social emotional learning skills like waiting, identifying emotions, turn-taking as well as the importance of staying active.
What's the Story?
FRANKIE AND FRANK are a couple of friends, a boy and a monster, who love to learn new things. In each 1-2 minute episode they cover lessons on staying active, social emotional learning, pre-reading skills, and pre-math skills.
Is It Any Good?
Sometimes parents just need a short and sweet show to help their kids through a long line or busy waiting room. Frankie and Frank serves up just that with educational 1 to 2 minute shorts that center on a charming relationship between a boy, Frankie, and a silly monster, Frank. Both characters are colorful puppets plopped in front of a no-frills white background, creating a setting that's both soothing and entertaining. In each clip, silly misunderstandings (usually by Frankie) will make preschoolers giggle as they learn pre-reading, pre-math, and important social-emotional skills. All in all, this is a show that parents can feel good about periodically pulling up to share with their little ones.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how Frankie and Frank stay curious and are always learning new things. Why is this an important character trait?
Point out how Frank and Frankie demonstrate emotional intelligence by identifying and naming their emotions. Practice doing this with your kids when they feel frustrated, sad, excited, and etc.
Are Frank and Frankie friends? How can you tell? What makes a good friend?
