Fresh, Fried & Crispy
What's the Story?
FRESH, FRIED & CRISPY follows fast food connoisseur Daym Drops across America to check out some of the hottest comfort food spots in the country. Daym's tastes are right there in the title: fresh, fried, and crispy, but hold the vegetables. At the end of each visit, he crowns a cuisine to rule the town; a delicacy for the not-so-delicate.
Is It Any Good?
Host Daym Drops rose to prominence through a series of charismatic YouTube reviews of major fast food joints; here Netflix lets Daym loose on America, for better or worse. On Fresh, Fried & Crispy, Daym isn't a typical food-tourism guide. Most of the time, it seems like he'd prefer a drive-through burger to whatever he's eating for the show. Also, he openly dislikes vegetables. And yet, Daym has the boundless enthusiasm and easy charisma of someone who could easily hit every restaurant in town in one whirlwind night. Fresh, Fried & Crispy is pure public relations for the restaurants it covers. For viewers looking to add a new take-out spot to their rotation, enjoyment will depend on what they like in a dining companion: someone who wants to discuss ingredients and technique, or someone who unabashedly loves jalapeño poppers?
