What's the Story?

FUNNY OR DIE'S HIGH SCIENCE is an educational comedy show based on the story that in 1964 the government created a robotic bong, named Dr. OH (Paul Bettany), designed to enlighten humanity. After years of being hidden away, the bong has been rediscovered by two bumbling potheads. In each episode they use the bong to smoke a specifically themed bud and learn about a new scientific topic.

This educational comedy disappointingly relies on an unnecessary marijuana storyline to drive its humor, but excels in providing fascinating scientific information. Despite the Bill and Ted wannabe hosts' attempts at comedy falling flat, Funny or Die's High Science's use of real scientists and impressive visuals make for an entertaining learning experience. An obvious derivative of Drunk History, each episode features hosts under the influence (in this instance, feigning being under the influence) and covers a featured topic. It's a shame that the series feels the need to lean on a drug storyline that doesn't add any humor and makes it unsuitable for younger children. If it weren't for the marijuana angle, Funny or Die's High Science could have been a great educational show for all ages.
