Game Theory with Bomani Jones
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
GAME THEORY WITH BOMANI JONES is a sports-centered comedy/news/talk show that focuses on major stories in sports, current events, and pop culture. Jones, perhaps best known for his contributions to ESPN's Highly Questionable, which became a breakout hit under his stewardship, lends his unique perspective to sports coverage, and conducts interviews with athletes and other sports media luminaries.
Is It Any Good?
A late-night show that mixes sports and comedy isn't exactly a new idea; this is only the latest attempt to make a Daily Show. Game Theory with Bomani Jones falls into plenty of the same traps as those that came before it: weak sketches, rote interviews, and cheap jokes. It's difficult to take Jones too seriously when he's making cringey jokes about, for example, sexual assault while covering a sexual assault case. It's possible that, over time, Game Theory will loosen up and start hitting some material out of the park. Right now, it feels like the show was called up to the majors too soon.
