Get Millie Black
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
Someone wants to GET MILLIE BLACK. After being sent away as a child, Detective Millie Black (Tamara Lawrence) moves from Scotland and back to Kingston, Jamaica following her mother's death. She tries to reconnect with her estranged sister Hibiscus (Chyna McQueen,) but the trauma caused by their mother and Hibiscus' struggle for survival keeps the bond tense. At work, Millie is assigned to a missing person's case with partner Curtis (Gershwyn Eustache Jnr.) Just when they think they've found the man holding their missing girl, she discovers Detective Lue Holborn (Joe Dempsie), a Scotland detective, needs their guy as a suspect on his own case. Millie has no time to be furious, as more things from her past come back to haunt her.
Is It Any Good?
This series aptly balances melancholy and mystery. Get Millie Black is tense, enigmatic, and emotional. The narrative unfolds an intriguing mystery set against the history and political landscape of Jamaica. Lawrence portrays the haunted and complicated personality very well. Viewers will be on the edge of their seats to see how everything unfolds. The frequent cursing, violence, and sexual content makes this suitable only for older teens.
