What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Great Chocolate Showdown is a cooking competition show for amateur chocolatiers. The show follows the familiar cooking competition format, where each episode involves multiple challenges wherein the chefs test their skills under a significant time pressure. Some segments do get into how to create specific tastes or visual effects with chocolate, but viewers would need significantly more detail and very specific equipment to repeat them at home.

What's the Story?
Great Chocolate Showdown welcomes ten amateur chocolatiers into a competition that will test their skills and fortitude. Each episode, competitors complete two challenges that show off their creative and technical abilities, and the worst performer is sent home. The last chef left standing will receive $50,000 to start their sweet (or semi-sweet) new career.
Is It Any Good?
Lots of competition shows overcome their overly familiar formats by offer unique challenges or compelling casts -- unfortunately, this one isn't that dynamic. That leaves very little to dig into for viewers who aren't already candy connoiseurs or insatiable cooking competition fans.
