What's the Story?

I AM ILARY is a five-part unscripted Italian series about TV personality Ilary Blasi after the end of her marriage. In 2005 the former child actress and model married then-A.S. Roma footballer Francesco Totti in a ceremony that was aired nationwide. Seventeen years later, the relationship ended in a very public and contentious divorce. After giving her side of the story about the split in the 2023 Netflix series Unica, Blasi returns to share what her post-divorce life is like. From launching a book and exploring new career opportunities to her relationship with German entrepreneur Bastian Müller, Blasi reveals how she's embracing her life today, even if it's not the life she imagined.

The voyeuristic series spin-off, available subtitled and dubbed in English, offers a behind-the-scenes look at Ilary Blasi's professional and personal life after navigating a difficult divorce. Unlike Unica, which Blasi uses as a platform to publicly reclaim the story of the breakdown of her marriage to Francesco Totti from both the now ex-footballer and the tabloids, I Am Ilary is Blasi's effort to control her post-marital narrative. It offers a few positive messages, but the overall series feels like Blasi is taking the opportunity to promote herself while showing the world that she has moved on from her ex. It's not the most original or exciting of shows, and folks familiar with Blasi and Totti's story who are looking for some tabloid-worthy gossip won't find it here.
