Inside Eats with Rhett & Link
What's the Story?
Inside Eats with Rhett & Link finds its hosts, the North Carolinian YouTubers of Good Mythical Morning, going behind the scenes at some of America's most popular restaurants. Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal give their quirky takes on familiar foods and massive menus while sampling everything in sight along the way.
Is It Any Good?
Viewers who have ever wondered what types of videos corporations play at their staff orientations should look no further. Inside Eats with Rhett & Link is nothing more than a series of long-form advertorials for chain restaurants, hosted by two blandly "charming" supposed YouTube stars. Granted, most food tourism shows lavish their featured locales with excessive praise, but the best ones also tend to feature things like cooking tips, food history, or cultural events and sights, that extend beyond the purview of an infomercial. Inside Eats is so boldly, gratuitously shilling for its subjects that it takes place entirely in corporate offices and behind service counters, and the closest it comes to cooking tips is coaching people on how to order their rice bowls.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about restaurants. Where did Rhett and Link go in the episode you watched? Why did they choose that place? What did they hope to find there?
How do Rhett and Link compare to other food show hosts? What unique qualities do they bring to the table? Do you trust their opinions on food? Why or why not?
What insight did you gain about the culture and cuisine of the restaurants? Did you learn anything interesting from going behind the scenes?
