Is It Any Good?

With episodes clocking in at only three minutes each, these animated shorts pack a lot of punch for preschool viewers. Jelly, Ben & Pogo is an incredibly sweet show that manages to subtly teach important skills. Age-appropriate communication is often modeled; one character says, for example, "What does Ben need?... Let's ask him!" Emotional intelligence is also an ongoing theme, with the three friends often shown verbalizing their feelings, sometimes after a little gentle prodding. In fact, nearly everything about this show is gentle. Pogo the sea monster is joyful and silly, without being overwhelming, and the siblings' voices are pleasantly childish.

Jelly and Ben often share customs from their Filipino culture, making the show educational for some viewers in yet another fun way. Parents can feel good about turning this one on for their young children. Plus, getting to watch three episodes in under 10 minutes will make it a little harder for kids to complain when it's time to turn it off.
