Jujutsu Kaisen
What's the Story?
JUJUTSU KAISEN follows Yuuji Itadori (Junya Enoki), a typical high school student with slightly above average strength and standard motivation to use it. When his grandfather dies, he leaves him with one dying wish: "You're a strong kid so try to help others." He doesn't know what to make of this wish until Megumi Fushigoro (Yuma Uchida) approaches him, demanding to know where a cursed finger is. Violence, chaos, and confusion follow, and Itadori eats the finger and becomes partially possessed in the process. He has two options: to be executed immediately or eat 20 more cursed fingers and face execution later. How will this impact Itadori's ordinary life, and who will he encounter at Tokyo Jujutsu High School?
Is It Any Good?
This is a standard shonen anime, but it's distinguishable in that the main character's introduction is bleak, and we get to see how his journey unfolds through that lens. As with most anime shows, there's a rapid introduction to multiple characters, but here there's an attempt to flesh them out through interactions and teamwork. Constant violence and dismemberment make this a show more suitable watch for older teens who are fans of the genre.
