Kids Pick the President
What's the Story?
In KIDS PICK THE PRESIDENT, teen Mia and dad Nate Burleson hear from kids and teens all over the United States about their concerns regarding the 2024 presidential election. The show offers an overview on what matters the most to children, including the position of each candidate on topics such as the economy, health, safety, and technology. In the end, the results of a mock election where kids pick the president are revealed.
Is It Any Good?
Informative and impartial, the show presents an overview of current affairs in a way that's easy for kids to understand. Through interviews with kids all over the country and a sweet father-and-daughter interaction between the hosts, Kids Pick the President is engaging even if, at times, a bit fast-paced. That said, the way it speeds through topics feels like an overview rather than a lesson.
If your kid is well-informed or is only stepping their toe into U.S. civics, this special could spark meaningful conversations.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the importance of voting. In Kids Pick the President, kids talk about the 2024 candidates and their views on important matters of public interest. How do you think this relates to voting?
If someone is not old enough to vote, what are some other ways they can make a difference and help build the future together?
Kids in the show have different opinions about the candidates. Why do you think that is? What do you think influences someone's political beliefs?
