What's the Story?
LA MAISON follows the story of the Ledu fashion house in France, led by Vincent Ledu (Lambert Wilson). Assisted by Perle (Amira Casar), Vincent struggles to maintain tradition and Ledu's brand against rival fashion house Rovel, who's coincidentally assisted by his brother Victor (Pierre Deladonchamps). After Vincent has a meltdown at a party, a video of it is uploaded and the Ledu name is on the line. Amidst all this, independent designer Paloma (Zita Hanrot) uses her brand to critique these fashion mega houses. But she has unfinished business at Ledu, and as Vincent tries to save Ledu's legacy, she unknowingly adds more fuel to the fire.
Is It Any Good?
This series fuses family feuds, fashion, and fame into a fascinating drama. La Maison is tense, topical, and unique. There are many character dynamics at play, which is fun to watch when paired with fashion politics and a bit of comedy. Lambert Wilson's portrayal of the intimidating Vincent is unique. Be aware that language, drinking, and sexual content make this show best suited for high school age and up.
