A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Leonardo is a historical mystery series loosely based on the life of artist Leonardo da Vinci. There's frequent name-calling and words like "arse" and "whore." Characters often drink socially. Expect some physical fighting, fighting with weapons, and characters being stabbed and poisoned. There's some passionate making out, and characters are in various states of undress (in the name of fine art). Themes of art, subjectivity, and friendship are discussed. Subjects of sexism and sexuality are explored through complicated characters.

What's the Story?
LEONARDO (Aidan Turner) a struggling painter's apprentice, is one day arrested and accused of murder by Stefano Giraldi (Freddie Highmore). The victim? "Love," otherwise known as Caterina da Cremona (Matilda De Angelis), Leonardo's best friend and confidante. All Stefano needs to do is pin anything onto Leonardo and write him off as guilty, but something isn't adding up. Leonardo's journey goes through major historical and life events as Stefano tries to figure out what would lead Leonardo to murder...or if he even did it in the first place.
Is It Any Good?
It's no mystery that this fictional exploration of art and murder will keep viewers on edge. Leonardo has a fantastic murder mystery story, paired with great performances by Aidan Turner, Matilda De Angelis, and Freddie Highmore. Although fictitious, the creative inaccuracies in this series provide depth to notable figures and art pieces throughout history. Any viewers who enjoy art or murder mysteries (or both!) would find this an entertaining watch.
