What's the Story?

LET'S PLAY follows Sam Young (voiced by Kana Hanazawa), a woman who works at her father's office as a data entry clerk. She balances between her duties as the CEO's daughter and her other, secret life as a game developer. Her newest game, called Ruminate, is gaining traction with a good user rating that keeps going up. Unfortunately, when a gameplay streamer named Marshall Law (voiced by Simba Tsuchiya) plays the game incorrectly, he influences many people to dislike the game. This event causes Sam to spiral, as she is plagued by bad reviews which devastate her. It will then be up to Sam to prove to Marshall that her game is so much better than he said and carve her dream path as a developer while navigating her responsibilities at work and her prospective love life.

This anime is entertaining and cute. Let's Play has multiple moving parts and accurately represents certain parts of real life, like the balance between having an ordinary job and following your dreams in your spare time. There are some unrealistic parts of the show, however, like many of Sam's male friends or coworkers having crushes on her, which leads to some tense situations that can feel inappropriate. Overall, Let's Play has decent pacing, an interesting plot, and leaves the viewer wanting to know what happens next.
