What's the Story?
In LITTLE BABY BUM, nursery rhymes new and old are illustrated by six-year-old Mia, her family and friends, and a host of animals and vehicles found in the words of the songs. The show features classics like "Five Little Speckled Frogs," new songs like "No Monsters Song," and multiple original variations of "The Wheels on the Bus." There are videos that celebrate Christmas and those that teach letters, numbers, and colors.
Is It Any Good?
This educational show is a solid introduction to screen time for the youngest viewers. Children will be drawn to the bright colors and likable singing voices in Little Baby Bum. The educational content allows parents to rest easy, knowing that children are consuming okay content if they need to step away momentarily. At the same time, it is clear that the show was originally created as YouTube content. The animation style (and in some cases, glitches in animation), emphasis on popular holidays like Christmas and Halloween, and repetition of popular tunes with different subjects (like the numerous versions of "Wheels on the Bus" and the iterations of "No No No!") speak to the viral nature of YouTube videos and don't translate very well to TV viewing...unless, perhaps, the viewers are under age 5.
